A Taste of France - menus

 

The following 6 menus are available @ 18 euros per person.  

Menu 1

 SALADE AU CHIFFON DU JAMBON –  a salad of cured black mountain ham served with warm camembert toasts.

 POULET EN CROUTE  – chicken breast stuffed with Roquerfort cheese, wrapped in puff pastry and served with a Madeira sauce accompanied by fresh vegetables in season

 TARTE AU CITRON – a traditional refreshing French lemon tart finished with a crisp brulee topping served with crème fraiche

 Menu 2

COQUILLE ST JACQUES – a Breton dish of scallops cooked with cream and cider topped with breadcrumbs and served in a scallop shell.

 BEOUF BOURGIGON – The French classic beef in red wine slowly cooked until meltingly tender, served with creamed potatoes and seasonal vegetables.

MOELLEUX AU CHOCOLATE – a rich dark chocolate torte with a soft centre, served with espresso flavoured whipped cream

Menu 3

 PISSALADIERE– a tart made with a thin crisp base topped with onions, garlic, crème fraiche and lardons.

 FILLET MIGNON  – a fillet of pork stuffed with Agen Prunes wrapped in black mountain ham and served with a cream and calvados sauce, fresh vegetables in season and crushed new potatoes.

 TARTE TATIN – a traditional apple tart which is cooked upside down so that when it is turned out the pastry is lovely and crisp served with vanilla ice cream.

 CROTIN DU CHEVRE – local goat’s cheese cooked in puff pastry and served with a garlic and basil sauce

 SAUTÉ D'AGNEAU  – sautéed lamb with a pea & mint puree, finished with a red wine, rosemary and garlic jus, served with potatoes and vegetables in season.

 TARTE AU POIRE- a baked pear tart with a filling made of cream, eggs and ground almonds, served with a cinnamon syrup and crème fraiche.

Menu 5

 TARTE AU POIRE ROQUEFORTE – a tartlet of pears sauteed in honey, with walnuts and roqueforte cheese,bound together with eggs and cream, served on a bed of salad leaves.

 TRUITE DER MER AU SAUCE CHAMPAGNE – Fillet of sea trout with a cream, mussel & champagne sauce accompanied by potatoes and vegetables in season

 TARTE ARMANDES – A tart with a frangipan base topped with lightly toasted almonds and dusted with icing sugar served with vanilla ice cream and a red fruit coulis.

 Menu 6

 SALMON FUMĒ AVEC SAUCE CONCOMBRE – Smoked salmon on a crouton served with a cucumber and caper sauce on a bed of salad leaves.

 Caisse de Canard – duck legs slowly roasted with honey and served with a red wine and shallot sauce and seasonal vegetables.

 PARIS BREST - A round choux pastry topped with roasted almonds, filled with vanilla ice cream and dusted with icing sugar.

Facilities at the Mill

 

Staffed Property - We live here within the grounds permanently so we are always here in case of emergencies or any questions you may have, or if you just wish to have a chat and a glass of wine!

 

The Gite is non smoking and sorry but we do not take pets.

 

Log wood burning stove (first box of logs are free of charge) and electric heating over winter months.

TV/DVD player, CD Player, Wi-Fi Internet Access in the Mill, Games room with pool table and table football, swimming pool (unheated in use over the summer months), boules court (boules supplied), BBQ and outside garden furniture for 8 people.

 

Standard Utilities - gas oven, larder fridge, microwave, kettle, coffee percolator, toaster, washing machine, ironing board, iron, hairdryer, bed linen provided but please bring your own towels.  4 bedrooms - 2 double beds, 4 single beds, 2 bathrooms, one with bath one with shower, 2 WC's.  Secure gated parking.

 

All bed linen is provided but please bring your own towels.

 

A welcome pack is provided for stays of 7 nights or more including tea, coffee, sugar, milk, biscuits and of course wine!  If you stay with us during Christmas or New Year we will also provide a seasonal hamper with our compliments.

 

 

Gas, electricity and water is included in the price of your stay.

 

TERMS & CONDITIONS OF PAYMENT

10% deposit required at time of booking - balance 8 weeks prior to arrival.   If the balance of payment is not received by the end of 7 weeks prior to arrival and we have had no communication from you we reserve the right to re-advertise your booking.  A contact telephone number is also required.
